Dynamics 365 Business Central support partner
Having an unresponsive Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central support partner is not uncommon. Not having the right support partner significantly impacts on business success and prevents an organisation from achieving the benefits they expect from investments in Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Key considerations in selecting a new Dynamics 365 Business Central partner
There are five things to look for when choosing a new Business Central support partner:
- Consider the experience the prospective partner has with the modules you use and your sector. This has a significant impact on how quickly the partner can get up to speed with the system and what needs to be done. It is also a good determinant of the value they can add. When they have seen your challenge many times before they have more than just product knowledge to come up with solutions to meet your needs.
- Look for a partner who can not only support the Business Central application but all of the associated Office 365, applications and infrastructure too, especially if you are on-premise. Selecting two separate suppliers means you spend time playing referee. If your system is running slowly, there are a number of potential causes (the hardware, database tuning, missing indexes, optimisation jobs not running, the application design, coding problems) that could sit with either your application or infrastructure partner.
- Challenge your prospective partner on their approach to service transition and take references on where and when they have done this before. Those partners that have a proven methodology will demonstrate how they will support transition with no degradation of service to the system users.
- Future proof your business by choosing a partner that has experience in managing the Microsoft releases successfully. Dynamics 365 Business Central has 2 annual releases from Microsoft and ensuring the new functionality is embraced and incorporated into your design and that any changes does not have a negative impact on the way Business Central and any add-ons perform.
- How will your prospective partner drive greater business value from your investment in Dynamics 365 Business Central? Support should be about much more than ticket handling. Challenge them on how they will work with you to ensure high levels of user adoption. What training and refresher courses can they offer and how will they account for business change?
