Plan and prepare for D365 Marketing in 2023 release wave 2 – here’s all you need to know…
A lot has been happening in the world of marketing at Microsoft over the past few months – not least a complete product rebrand. As of September 2023, Dynamics Marketing is now packaged as part of the broader Dynamics Customer Insights product suite. This exciting transformation empowers businesses to leverage the combined strength of journey orchestration – via the marketing tool – with seamless data unification and activation through the Customer Data Platform (CDP).
Microsoft’s 2023 release wave 2 for Dynamics 365 Marketing shows its commitment to integrating the products further. Come October 2023, marketers will be able to bring ‘customer measures’ directly into the journey builder from Customer Insights – Data. Let’s explore:
Personalising customer experiences using calculated metrics from Customer Insights
Marketers have been able to create personalised customer experiences by leveraging Customer Insights segments for some time now. These powerful segments give marketers the ability to build journeys based on customer data that extends simply the CRM, to data that sits across the whole business. In the latest release wave, ‘customer measures’ can be utlised to tailor journeys and content based on:
- Loyalty,
- Lifetime value,
- Any other calculated measure.
Marketers can now start to create journeys and personalise offers based on attributes such as average order size, frequency of visits to the store or cumulative revenue.
Copilot and AI innovation
The headline updates in the latest release however are undoubtably around generative AI, through Microsoft Copilot. The impact of AI across industries and disciplines has been profound and is clear to see in this latest release. Copilot enables marketers to simply describe their needs and, in turn, help generate ideas and content faster, launch journeys, and complete time-consuming tasks. These incredible features increase productivity whilst making marketing teams more efficient. Let’s take a closer look at some of the Copilot releases in more detail:
1. Use Copilot to create journeys by describing them
AI features have been flooding into Customer Insights journeys over the past few months. Users can use Copilot to: create segments using natural language, suggest relevant and engaging content for emails (including styling emails, forms, and event registration pages).
Coming in November 2023, marketers will be able to create journeys by simply describing them, using everyday language. Relying on generative AI to do the heavy lifting means marketers won’t have to spend time on the mechanics of journey building and can instead focus on creating more engaging content and personalised experiences for customers.
Going into public preview in November is the ability to leverage inspiring journey templates. Gone are the days of building journeys from scratch – marketers will now be able to take advantage of enhanced templates covering a multitude of scenarios including e-commerce, events, proactive customer service, sales qualification and more.
2. Perfect your message with Copilot text editing and rewriting
Another great new feature in the upcoming release is the ability to optimise your message content. Using Copilot, marketers will be able to easily rephrase content, adjust the tone of voice and shorten or lengthen copy. This new feature will work across email, text messages, push notifications and forms ultimately increasing productivity and creating more engaging content.
Scale your business with confidence with 300M maximum monthly interactions
A final update worth mentioning is around the increased scale across Customer Insights – Journeys. From October onwards, 300 million messages per month can be sent across email, SMS, push or custom channels, an increase of 3 times the previous limit. This is a massively important update for those organisations operating on a larger scale, perhaps across multiple geographies and/or product lines.
