National Composites Centre (NCC) has partnered with Telefónica Tech to upgrade its core business systems with Dynamics 365

Based in Bristol, the National Composites Centre (NCC) is one of seven centres that form the High-Value Manufacturing Catapult and focuses on accelerating the adoption of high-value, sustainable engineering solutions in composites, in order to stimulate growth, and enhance capability for the benefit of the UK. The NCC has over 350 specialist composites engineers based at its facility and offers open-access to cutting-edge digital manufacturing technology for the design, and development of new composite products pulling through technology from the lab to large-scale production.

Drivers for change

NCC has grown rapidly since its inception with applications being implemented to meet an immediate need. The core business application is WinMan ERP, which is primarily used to manage the financial and purchasing processes. Most other business functions are supported by a mix of spreadsheets, small applications or paper. The current setup makes reporting difficult, with potential for human error due to the need to manually collate data from multiple sources.

About the new Dynamics 365 solutions

Telefónica Tech will be working with NCC to deliver a new Unified Business System with Dynamics 365 applications. This will be split into two phases over the next two years. The first phase is focussed on the delivery of core Dynamics 365 Finance, Supply Chain Management and Core HR to replace the incumbent ERP solution. The second phase will deliver additional Finance and Supply Chain Management functionality coupled with Dynamics 365 Service, Sales, Marketing and Microsoft Power Apps.

Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management are the ideal solutions to unify and automate NCC’s financial and purchasing processes and to digitise their manufacturing workflows. Dynamics 365 Finance will provide data visualisation and the ability to drill-down into transactions and improve performance and reporting. Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management will give NCC insight into their planning, production, stock, warehouse, and transportation to maximise operational efficiency and profitability. Phase 2 of the project will see NCC roll-out Dynamics 365 Core HR, Dynamics Sales, Dynamics 365 Marketing and PowerApps, making Dynamics 365 the ideal choice through its ease of integration with other applications.

Why NCC selected Telefónica Tech

Incremental was selected as a result of a competitive tender. NCC was impressed with Telefónica Tech’s depth of expertise across Dynamics 365 applications, and our extensive referenceability in the manufacturing sector where we have experience in driving value for money for similar organisations. Being involved early on in the procurement process and helping NCC to shape their solution designs to fit their unique needs, was crucial in their choice to select Telefónica Tech.
