Microsoft is continually adding new features and approaches to their solutions and now they have announced a huge leap forward integrating both Mixed Reality (MR) and Augmented Reality (AR) into Dynamics 365.
Since the release of the Microsoft HoloLens over 2 years ago, Microsoft has been looking for ways to apply it to solve different business problems. The most obvious area is the ability to collaborate no matter the location in a real and meaningful way. By providing information and data in context at the right place in real time, this can support employees to be as impactful as possible. Through both Mixed and Augmented reality Microsoft is blurring the lines between the physical and digital world.
Dynamics 365 Layout
Dynamics 365 Layout allows you to import 3D models and room layouts as Holograms in the physical world or in virtual reality. This supports you bringing physical designs from concept to completion with confidence. You can also collaborate and share this with various stakeholders allowing you to make quicker decisions.
Dynamics 365 Remote Assist
Empower technicians to solve problems faster the first time. With heads-up, hands-free video calling on Microsoft HoloLens, technicians can now collaborate with remote experts on PC or mobile to troubleshoot issues in context. Modernise your field service operations so you can make the most of your time and money. This allows you to take your specialists and knowledge and apply it anywhere in the world!
Chevron Remote Assist Case Study
Chevron has purchased hundreds of HoloLens and is applying it to their operations globally with a plan to eventually get to thousands of HoloLens, so that the HoloLens is as part of their infrastructure as a laptop is.
Chevron has deployed Microsoft Dynamics 365 Remote Assist and Microsoft HoloLens within their global facilities including oil refineries, lubricants plants and off-shore locations. The technology is revolutionising the first-line worker experience and generating a measurable impact on Chevron’s bottom line, improving performance and speed of global collaboration.
This represents an interesting step for Microsoft. The release of two very relevant use cases shows a strong start, however we expect to see more applications added over time as they look to continue to focus on solving business problems with improved collaboration.
