The Data Governance Framework forms part of the larger Data Management Framework and ensures that proper authority is exercised over the management of data assets in the organisation. The context of data governance is highlighted by the yellow components in the accompanying diagram. The Data Governance Framework is made up of a the following components:

• Artefacts as highlighted in the framework overview (e.g. data quality rules)
• Processes
• Roles
• Responsibilities
• Organisational structures
• Appropriate technology solutions

Data governance will be aligned to corporate governance and will leverage the existing structures, processes, role, etc. already in place.
