As Business Central becomes the go-to financial solution for mid-sized and growing organisations, it has become key that accountants embrace the solution. In this article we discuss how accountants with several clients, you can use Dynamics 365 Accountant Hub as your dashboard for a better overview of your clients.

How Microsoft is enabling accountants

Microsoft now offers a number of useful and free services for accountants to help them manage their Dynamics 365 customers more effectively.

  1. Accountant licenses
If you use an external accountant to manage your books and financial reporting, you can invite them to your Business Central so they can work with you on your fiscal data. Once your accountant has gained access to your Business Central, they can use the Accountant Role Centre that gives easy access to the most relevant pages for their work. A free External Accountant license is provided as part of your Dynamics 365 Business Central tenancy.
  2. Dynamics 365 Accountant Hub
Accountant Hub is a free service provided to an accountant. If you have more than one customer using Dynamics 365 Business Central, it provides you with a simple hub to manage all of your customers. You can access customer information, tasks, reports and everything you need all from within the Hub or drill down directly into each customer tenancy for Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Dynamics 365 Accountant Hub

Accountant Hub provides you with a dashboard and full overview of your clients. From there, you can access each client’s data. This hub provides you with everything you need.

The Client Name column shows the names of your clients, and the Company Name column lists all companies if the client has more than one company in Dynamics 365 Business Central. There are also fields to show you tasks that are assigned to you in your client’s company, including overdue tasks.

You can customise the dashboard to show the data points that you want to see by adding or removing columns. For example, you might want to see taxes that are due, how many open sales documents each client has, or the number of purchase invoices that are due next week. You can configure the view to suit your needs. If you have many clients, you can use filters to sort your view.

You can see more information about your clients’ data by choosing the name of the company that you want to learn more about. This opens the Company Details pane, where you can see additional information, such as the following:

  • Cash account balances
  • Cash flow forecast
  • Overdue purchase invoices
  • Overdue sales invoices

In your client’s Business Central, you can assign tasks to yourself and others, and others can assign tasks to you. Your dashboard in Accountant Hub gives you an overview of assigned tasks for each client, and you can also access a list of all assigned tasks by choosing My User Tasks on the Home page.
